Alienation 2020-2022
Through the mediums of performance, movement and art photography, ālienātion, is a art project created during the first and second wave of Covid-19 lockdown in three different locations: Sweden, Belgium and Greece. The performance explores the space and materiality of solitude, carefully constructed as a response to the imminent threat of a global health crisis. Imaginations of freedom help us conceptualise bodily autonomy, answering one of the points of departure of this project: Where would I want to be, if not here?
Following digital and ethnographic methods, the project explores alienation not only as a reactionary emotion but also as a notion of imposed morality, in response to the lockdown measures for Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021. Different topologies and different people strive for a sense of accountability through alienation. Despite all, however, dream and reality, online and offline, inside and out, merge into a hue and take the shape of water.
